2025
AENA has upgraded the EN 54-compliant public address and voice evacuation system at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport with a full solution from LDA Audio Tech.
The installation covers both passenger terminals, featuring four redundant NEO-8060 systems, over 1,000 EN 54-24 certified loudspeakers and the SIME software management platform, to ensure coverage and intelligibility throughout the facilities.
César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport (ACE), located five kilometres from Arrecife, is the main gateway to the island and the hub of its tourism economy. With 8.9 million passengers in 2025, it ranks tenth nationally and third in the Canary Islands, behind Gran Canaria and Tenerife South.
Its two terminals (T1 and T2) and 17 boarding gates handle domestic, international and inter-island flights continuously, and international traffic accounts for over 60% of the total, coming mainly from the United Kingdom and Germany.
In a place with this level of activity, EN 54-certified public address and voice evacuation systems play a critical role. As well as coordinating the daily flow of passengers, they are completely reliable when it comes to activating the emergency protocols required by the standard.
AENA trusted LDA Audio Tech with the complete renovation of the system. At its core are four NEO-8060 systems with cold backup controllers, which ensure service continuity in the event of any failure. Forty NEO-4250 extensions extend coverage throughout the entire site.
Thanks to its EN 54-16 certification, NEO facilitates compliance with current Spanish regulations on fire safety and voice evacuation systems in public spaces.
The 95 ZES-22 devices installed integrate the microphones at the check-in desks, ambient noise sensors and the airport’s automatic message system (SAMA). The SIME platform manages automatic gain control and overall monitoring.
Up to 120 TFL-2 terminators verify the integrity of each loudspeaker circuit in real time. The operational interface also includes 70 A-1 microphones, three MPS-8Z multi-zone consoles and two VAP-1 alarm panels with VAP-8K keyboard extensions.
The sound coverage includes more than 1,000 loudspeakers with models adapted to each environment: CH-42TN and CH-62TN ceiling loudspeakers, SC-95TN coaxial loudspeakers, VTX-15TN and VTX-60TN loudspeaker enclosures, PCP-20TN and PS-30TN projectors, and DS-60TN and CI-825TN surface-mounted loudspeakers.
LDA Audio Tech carried out the acoustic design using CAD modelling in EASE, on-site measurements and position marking to achieve the intelligibility levels required by regulations in all areas.
The scope of the project included wiring diagrams, commissioning, training for AENA’s technical team and specialist remote support.
