It is a multipurpose stadium for the practice of football and athletics and with a capacity for 39,000 spectators. It is the stadium of the two main clubs in the city, the Oman Club and Muscat FC, and the national team of Oman, as well as the headquarters of the Gulf Nations Cup of 1996 and 2009. The complex also has several facilities sports such as tennis courts and Olympic pool.
Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex has EN-54 certified public address and voice evacuation systems in its facilities.
