{"id":18192,"date":"2017-06-27T07:55:07","date_gmt":"2017-06-27T07:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/en\/?p=18192"},"modified":"2019-09-12T09:18:09","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T07:18:09","slug":"new-fire-protection-standard-in-spain-will-come-into-effect-in-november-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/en\/2017\/06\/27\/new-fire-protection-standard-in-spain-will-come-into-effect-in-november-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"The new fire protection standard in Spain will come into effect in November 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row css_animation=&#8221;&#8221; row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; use_row_as_full_screen_section=&#8221;no&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; angled_section=&#8221;no&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; background_image_as_pattern=&#8221;without_pattern&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Council of Ministers has just approved a new <strong>Facilities Regulation for Fire Protection (RIPCI)<\/strong> that will come into force in November 2017 and which updates the conditions and requirements for this type of equipment with the adaptation of several European standards like the EN 54.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/boe\/dias\/2017\/06\/12\/pdfs\/BOE-A-2017-6606.pdf\">Royal Decree 513\/2017<\/a>, of 22 May, approving the Regulation for fire protection facilities, establishes the requirements to be met by equipment, systems and facilities, becoming the new reference standard in Spain for companies which are engaged in design, installation and maintenance activities. This standard will come into effect six months after its publication in the Official State Gazzete \u201cBolet\u00edn Oficial del Estado\u201d \u2013that is, on November 22, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The new regulation has gone through several drafts in recent years until now, when it updates a regulation that had not been modified since 1993. The decree establishes specific rules for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conditions and requirements to be met by fire protection equipment, systems and components.<\/li>\n<li>Conditions of qualification and operation of the installation and maintenance companies.<\/li>\n<li>Conditions for installation, commissioning, minimum maintenance and periodic inspections of these installations.<\/li>\n<li>Sanctioning regime.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18222\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-18222\" style=\"padding-right: 15px; padding-bottom: 15px;\" src=\"https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Altavoces evacuaci\u00f3n emergencias LDA\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/lda-audiotech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/altavoces-evacuacion-emergencia-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>EUROPEAN FIRE STANDARDS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In terms of voice alarm systems, the new regulation refers to two separate regulations: UNE-EN 60849 and UNE-EN 54, regarding its parts EN 54-16 and EN 54-24. More specifically, the Royal Decree states that:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Electro-acoustic systems for emergency services shall comply with the provisions of standard UNE-EN 60849.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The voice fire alarm control systems and their indicating devices shall bear the CE marking in accordance with UNE-EN 54-16. The loudspeakers of the voice fire alarm system shall bear the CE marking in accordance with UNE-EN 54-24. &#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the UNE-EN 60849 standard is obsolete and superseded by UNE-EN 50849 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/boe\/dias\/2017\/05\/16\/pdfs\/BOE-A-2017-5466.pdf\">recently published in the BOE<\/a>, because UNE-EN 60849 establishes requirements that may conflict with UNE-EN 54. In fact, EN 50849 leaves voice evacuation systems for use in case of fire out of its scope, referring in such cases to the EN 54 standards. The law establishes a two-year coexistence period between UNE-EN 60849 and UNE-EN 50849, which expires in May 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The family of harmonized UNE-EN 54 standards comply with CE marking under the Construction Products Regulation EU No 305\/2011 (CPR), mandatory for <strong>fire protection systems<\/strong> and whose purpose is to guarantee the safety of people. This regulation requires products and systems certification through independent entities (notified bodies and accredited laboratories).
