The Roig Arena in Valencia, one of Spain\u2019s largest multi-purpose indoor arenas with a capacity of 20,000, is equipped with a state-of-the-art public address and voice evacuation system compliant with EN 54, designed, supplied and installed by LDA Audio Tech.<\/p>\n

Opened in September 2025 with an investment of \u20ac400 million, this venue has a capacity of 15,600 spectators for basketball and up to 20,000 in a concert configuration. It is the new home of Valencia Basket and has already hosted top-tier events: the 2026 Copa del Rey, international concerts and major shows.<\/p>\n

A large indoor multi-purpose venue<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The complex includes the main arena, a multi-purpose hall for up to 2,000 people, hospitality areas, VIP boxes, restaurants, terraces, corporate spaces and car parks. It operates 365 days a year with very different configurations and massive capacities, making audio management and evacuation a major technical challenge.<\/p>\n

In a venue of this nature, an EN 54 voice evacuation system becomes critical infrastructure that must operate in any situation, whether the venue is full or empty, during a basketball match or in the middle of a concert. In other words, here the installation goes beyond purely regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n

This was the main challenge of the project: to develop a solution that could operate flexibly and reliably<\/strong> in such a dynamic and acoustically complex environment, whilst ensuring optimal integration with the venue\u2019s security and audiovisual systems.<\/p>\n

The LDA installation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

LDA was involved in all phases of the project<\/strong>: from the initial consultancy and system design through to commissioning, FAT\/SAT testing and technical training for the Roig Arena team.<\/p>\n

The scope included acoustic and intelligibility studies, EASE modelling, sectorisation design, rack and fibre-optic engineering, AES67 integration and full system implementation.<\/p>\n

The acoustic design improved sound distribution in a highly complex venue with large volumes, variable reverberation, coexistence with show audio, mobile setups and simultaneous operation across multiple spaces.<\/p>\n

The installation covers all areas of the venue except the main bowl<\/strong>: access points and circulation areas, concourses, stairways and evacuation routes, hospitality areas, restaurants, terraces, bars, VIP boxes, premium lounges, corporate spaces, backstage, changing rooms, offices, car parks and outdoor areas.<\/p>\n

The system integrates certified voice evacuation, background music, operational paging, automated messages and distributed audio in premium zones into a single infrastructure. Using AES67, it also coordinates with the stadium\u2019s PA system to broadcast evacuation messages over the event sound system in case of emergency.<\/p>\n

The entire architecture is deployed over a proprietary, EN 54-certified redundant fibre-optic ring<\/strong>, offering high availability, fault tolerance and continuous network monitoring.<\/p>\n

The architecture utilises native AES67 IP audio transport, enabling the distribution of low-latency multichannel audio throughout the venue. The LDA system integrates via AES67 with the main PA system in the bowl to allow evacuation messages to be broadcast over the show sound system when an emergency occurs, keeping both infrastructures coordinated within the venue\u2019s overall safety strategy.<\/p>\n

The platform can simultaneously manage more than 50 networked audio channels<\/strong> distributed across different areas (VIP boxes, hospitality, premium lounges), background music, paging, live microphone announcements, automatic alerts and multi-zone evacuation scenarios.<\/p>\n

Equipment<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The system core has two LDA NEO-8060+ controllers<\/a> in a primary and redundant backup configuration, 21 NEO-4500E+ extensions, 17 NEO-8250E+ units and 5 NEO-4250E+ extensions. The NEXO AES67 converters operate within this configuration.<\/p>\n

Thanks to its EN 54-16 certification, NEO+ facilitates compliance with current Spanish regulations on fire safety and voice evacuation systems in public spaces<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zone control is managed via LDA MPS-8Z+ multi-zone microphones with expansion modules, and EN 54 VAP-1 emergency panels. The system is completed with redundant fibre converters using SFP optical modules and the LDA software platform.<\/p>\n

The installation features more than 1,300 EN 54-24 certified loudspeakers<\/a>, including CH-42TN and CH-62TN ceiling loudspeakers, PCM-20TN cylindrical projectors, PS-15TN exponential projectors, VTX-15TN vandal-proof loudspeakers, VTX-60TN and VTX-90TN, and DS-60TN surface-mounted loudspeakers. Many of these were manufactured with specific RAL finishings to match the interior architecture of each space, including custom colours, moisture-resistant treatments and specific configurations for exposed areas. LDA loudspeakers are highly customisable and can be manufactured in a range of colours<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Line monitoring is ensured by 205 TFL-2 terminators distributed throughout the venue. The infrastructure is completed by 11 42U racks and power supply and backup battery systems compliant with EN 54-4.<\/p>\n

LDA has also supplied the public address and voice alarm system for the Roig Arena multi-storey car park<\/a>, a facility that complements the large venue, which has eight floors and over 1,000 parking spaces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
